2007
The Trinitas College is a secondary school in Heerhugowaard. In 2007 they built two new buildings and the school aksed me to make a binding work of art. The two buildings are two kilometers away from each other.
The concept for the artwork is very simple. A Practice Room around and in between the two school buildings connects education with society and vice versa.
The Practice Room starts when you walk out the school buildings.
To invite teachers to use the Practice Room Martijn Engelbregt started a Walking Relay. During one school week Martijn walked from one building to the other and back again during every class hour. He invited every time one teacher from each building to walk with him.
This way each teacher met two other teachers from the other building. Together they could muse on the possibilities of the new Practice Room. Halfway through the walk Engelbregt took a photograph of the two colleagues shaking hands together.
During the Walking Relay Martijn Engelbregt walked over 150 kilometer in which 113 meetings took place
Several classes, such as philosophy and drawing were organized in Practice Room. Residents of houses on the route were interviewed by students.
